aquatherm Europe and Future Proof Building Come To Town

german visit - dirk rosenbergFPB Logo..aquatherm NZ was proud to welcome (during October) Dirk Rosenberg and Juergen Baecker from aquatherm Germany, for a joint aquatherm GmbH and Future Proof Building presentation to Architects, Engineers and installers in sessions held in FPB premises in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

These presentations outlined the innovations that aquatherm is bringing to the world markets and its involvement in New Zealand with Future Proof Building and Green Star construction.

Over all the sessions, close to 380 people attended and from the feedback received it was a welcome ray of sunshine on a wet New Zealand skyline.

While their stay was shorter than they would have both liked, Dirk and Juergen were able to see building sites in all the areas they visited where aquatherm product had been, is being, or will be installed.

Dirk commented that it was great to see the installations were of a high quality, had been installed by trained installers, who understood the value to  the community of a fully certified product and installation.

Part of Dirks presentation covered the release of the new climasystem in Europe.

This ingenious aquatherm system introduces heating and cooling into both ceiling and wall spaces without noise and/or forced air movement. The system is the latest environment friendly system as it requires a low temperature of around 17-18°C to cool and 28-30°C to heat and is better suited for heat pumps.

A special thanks to Future Proof Building and aquatherm GmbH for all the work in behinid making this happen - hopefully we will have a lot more of these presentations in the future.

Telecom Building by Express Plumbing

Telecom (2)A new giant green build project growing in Auckland City which will house the new offices for Telecom NZ Ltd, upon completion it will be known as Victoria Square.

As a green build project one of the major initiatives was to involve the recycling of rain water for the use of flushing water and garden re-usable systems. Other Green Build initiatives in the design include Syphonic Storm water System and PE Waste systems.

aquatherm lilac pipe was selected for this process and fusiotherm pipe for potable water reticulation throughout the buildings. aquatherm lilac pipe is another pipe system from aquatherm as an international colour standard for re usable non potable water, and like all aquatherm products is manufactured in Germany to DIN standards, Australian Standards and is locally appraised by BRANZ.

Craig Joliffe is the site supervisor for the site team of Express Plumbing - Craig's team are all certified by aquatherm NZ Ltd in fusion welding, ensuring a life time connection process of all jointed connections. It's a simple and clean install and his team are enjoying the ease of fusiotherm being assembled with the training and site supervision given by aquatherm staff to his team of twelve members, it is proving to be invaluable to the hassle free completion of the project.

All of the above have been installed into this sizable project, with work restrictions (this project is in a location where noise and dust affect homeowners) allowing only certain hours and Saturdays to be worked. Craig is pleased that all is on schedule for completion in late 2010.

Green has culture in New Zealand

DSC00829Wearable arts came to town in the form of a charity evening for the South Auckland Hospice.

The evening was professionally organised and arranged by Plumbing World Manukau. It can best be described as a fantastic success and a brilliant night out for everybody.

Along with ten other plumbing industry suppliers, each presenting a model on the catwalk. aquatherm recycled PP-R pipe, being fully clean and green the outfit designed and created for the evening attained second place overall.

Well done to Mike Te Namu our number one warehouse manager/model and the aquatherm design team lead by the very capable Andre'e Sands who created this timeless little number which Mike wore with such distinction that several orders for the costume had to be turned away on the evening.

Many thanks to Christoph and his team at Plumbing World Manukau for a fantastic evening at the Grange Golf Club of Papatoetoe, it's hoped that this will become a annual event.

Homesafe does another fantastic job with firestop

Aro Finals 002  Aro install 011

Another complex firestop installation for the team at Homesafe Ltd. This Wellington project, an architecturally designed building with very few concealed places, made this a particularly difficult installation for the team.

As you can see from the photos above, Paul Van Weerden's team has done a brilliant job as usual with the firestop product, overcoming a variety of obstacles. Well done Homesafe Ltd, every domestic and residential sprinkler job we have seen from your team has been to an absolute top standard.

There has been a huge amount of enquiry in both commercial and domestic sprinklers. The domestic installations currently in firestop are right across the field from large domestic luxury residential homes to group housing enquiries, across the country.

If you require any support in this area in both design direction and/or installation support, onside assistance - don't hesitate to call the team here at aquatherm as there are some very capable people around the country installing domestic sprinklers on a day-to-day basis.

Deloittes / BNZ Building - Chenerys

Chennerys at Deloittes   Deloittes 3

Another really large Green Star project in Auckland the Deloittes building is just in the process of being completed in fusiotherm / lilac / SHT. Alan Rubin and the team from Chenery's have done a brilliant job and have ensured that all Green Star NZ targets have been achieved in the areas of water reticulation; water quality, waste management, material quality and life cycle expectation.

Some of the targets required on this project were:

  • Significantly reduced potable water usage to 6L/day/person using aquatherm PP-R piping systems and water save systems.
  • Rainwater collection and recycling to flush toilets using fusiotherm lilac pipe for recycled water
  • Water meters installed and electronic management systems (EMS) for alarmed leak detection all connected by fusiotherm PP-R transition fittings and valves.

firestop now available at Steel and Tube

aquatherm NZ Ltd is pleased to announce the appointment of Steel & Tube Piping Systems (STPS) as a distribution partner for the national supply and sales of aquatherm's fire sprinkler system - firestop.

With excellent interest and growth in the new pipe system since its release here in New Zealand last year, it has been necessary to look to a more comprehensive outlet for product support other than from our warehouse in Auckland to assist in the national requirements of customers.

Pre-insulated insapipe used in the Ascot Park job

There has been a huge amount of interest in the new pre-insulated pipe system that we are now offering for climatherm and fusiotherm pipes. The installation below is a redevelopment at the Ascot Park Hotel in Invercargill. The installtion of a new wing of 20 rooms for the Invercargill Licensing Trust. Ascot Park is a Henderson Construction / Jackson Plumbing project and involved laying Pre Insulated fusiotherm hot & cold water pipes in the ground between the new wing and the existing building.

The attached picture shows Jackson Plumbing employees Stu Luzmore & Mathew Dick are fusion welding the pre insulated piping prior to laying it in the trench.

There has been a huge amount of interest as well in the pre insulated climatherm for inground heating mains, especially for institutional school work, additional classrooms and as well existing traditional steel systems that are being replaced.

Upgrades and maintenance replacements

Laser Plumbing upgrade at Rydges Hotel

McBeths Rydges 003The team at Laser Plumbing has been involved in a really decent size upgrade in the plant room at Rydges Hotel Rotorua. Due to corrosion and leaking in the existing system, fusiotherm SDR 7.4 was installed as a replacement with the sizes right through to 125mm.

Wi and Richard from Laser pre welded sections of pipe using the aquatherm big jig (50147) which were then transferred to the plant room using flanges.

F.B Hall upgrade at Ullrich Aluminium

Ullirich Aluminium 005  Ullirich Aluminium 009

Ullrich Aluminium Extrusion Plant in Hamilton needed a way in which water cooling and air supply could be brought to the new aluminium extrusion machines.

Climatherm of sizes up to 110mm were needed with flanging and electrofusion sockets also being used for the project.

F B Hall and Co Ltd took care of this job, the manager of the job was Wayne Hodgetts with Ross Macdonald running the job on site.

The ease of installation of the climatherm pipe and the excellent flow rates were an advantage for this project.
