Lower Hutt Hospital

The Lower Hutt is getting a major upgrade and extention to their Hospital, completion is due by the middle of 2012. The emergency department will triple in size. The new facilities will also include a new intensive care unit and day stay unit. The hospital will expect to see 40.000 patients per year.

The installation is being carried out by kevin Poole and his team from Professional Plumbing solutions. PPS have a great deal of experience with the aquatherm products in industrial applications. PPS have carried out some of the most high profile projects in the Wellington area.

A big thanks to Robin Luke and His team at Plumbing World Lower Hutt, who have project managed the product supply exceptionally well throughout the project to date.

ISH 2011

ISH, the world's biggest trade fair for the sanitation, heating and air-conditioning sector was held in Frankfurt, Germany.  This year 204,000 trade visitor attended the fair over 5 days to view the latest innovations and product trends from 2,355 international manufacturers.

ISH is the world's most important trade fair for anyone wanting to modernise existing buildings or construct future-proofed buildings.  Thanks to its economic efficiency and ability to offer the best possible solutions for using water and energy in buildings the sector holds an excellent position.

aquatherm used ISH to launch it's newest product, SDR 17.6 onto the market in a response to the requirements for pipe systems with bigger flow volume in industrial plants, factories, gigantic construction projects in hotel building, universities and stadiums, and is an extension of its pipe systems fusiotherm and climatherm in the dimensions 400 mm, 450 mm, 500 mm, 560 mm and 630 mm.

We're Behind Christchurch!

For most people living outside the Canterbury region there is a feeling of helplessness in our inability to provide non-monetary help.  aquatherm decided to help out Christchurch plumbers by providing free shirts available from their local Plumbing World Branches as a small gesture of support.

Master Plumbers Conference 23-25 March 

There is no doubt that a huge effort will be required to rebuild and replace homes and businesses in Christchurch after the magnitude 7.1 earthquake in September and 6.3 in February.

This disaster has brought to the forefront of people's minds the absolute necessity for clean water that can be used to drink, cook, flush and shower. Additionally, a new appreciation of how this valuable water gets to our homes and the people in the plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying trades has also come about.

An estimated 10,000 homes are to be rebuilt with the total cost of the damage reportedly between 20-30 billion and this figure is expected to rise in the coming months as further damage is revealed.

Finances will become a very real issue for householders and in turn plumbers, who have carried out repairs following the quakes, and are now having to chase payments due to the increasing amounts of money people are having to spend on other repairs, or because they are now out of work.

At the recent Master Plumbers Conference, aquatherm NZ Ltd donated $10,000 to the Canterbury Master Plumbers Association, to be used for Association members and their families experiencing tough times. The cheque was presented by aquatherm's Martin Reid to President Martin de Gouw and Barry Willcox. Martin laid down a challenge to other industry suppliers to back Canterbury and do the same.
